When Kramer's brief tenure as bass guitarist for Butthole Surfers ended in the autumn of 1985, he was replaced by a young kid named Jeff Pinkus. With the exception of one or two brief interruptions over the three decades that followed, Jeff remained with the band until they stopped being an active performing unit. He is now JD PINKUS, a frighteningly psychedelic master of the fungus-shui banjo. He sleeps late, collaborates frequently, tours incessantly, and lives in Asheville, North Carolina.
