Kramer is the founder of Shimmy-Disc. In the 1980's & 90's, he produced hundreds of recordings at his Noise New York and Noise New Jersey studios. As a producer, it was there that he helped to create seminal recordings for artists as diverse as Daniel Johnston, Galaxie 500, Half Japanese, Pussy Galore, Urge Overkill, Will Oldham, and LOW, to name but a small few. He lives and works in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
