Commissioned by JOHN ZORN and released in 2017 on his TZADIK label, Kramer continues his exploration of the Brill Building's hit makers of the 1960's with ten more songs, featuring one of the world's greatest living guitarists, BILL FRISELL, whose genius graces each and every track. The LP kicks off with an unforgettable version of Paul Simon's greatest song, "America", and ends with "Porpoise Song" (originally a hit for The Monkees, written by Carole King & Gerry Goffin). As with its predecessor, THE BRILL BUILDING, the arrangements on this CD bear little to no resemblance to the originals, but Kramer's reinvented renderings represent the truest celebration of the spirit of the original songwriter's intentions, and that alone is a reason to listen.
