• Bill Frisell

Bill Frisell is one of the most important guitarists alive today. His playing style ranges from jazz to rock to experimental improvisation, folk, country, Americana and beyond. He is also a gifted composer whose works defy easy categorization. Producer Hal Willner commissioned him to write the music from Hunter S. Thompson's 'The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved' (Shimmy-2011), and he has scored the music for several silent films by Buster Keaton. Bill has performed with composer John Zorn for over 40 years, and tours the world with a variety of trios, quartets, quintets and extended ensembles. He contributed all of the guitar work on Kramer's "Brill Building, Book Two" release on John Zorn's Tzadik Records, and was an original member of Zorn's proto-jazzpunk band, NAKED CITY. Bill has worked with Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, Paul Motian, Van Dyke Parks, Loudon Wainwright III, Vernon Reid, Elvin Jones, Ryuichi Sakamoto and hundreds of other artists. The list is literally a mile song. He has released solo works on ECM, Nonesuch, Grammavision, Savoy, Tzadik and Okeh, and he is currently signed to Blue Note. He has six Grammy nominations and one win.
